Mischievous Mind was covered on May 4, 2026, by Prince of Monaco and checked in and confirmed in foal on May 18, 2026. Our anticipation is that this foal will be Kentucky-bred.
Though you don’t see it very often these days, some of the best breeders have excellent results duplicating the same mating multiple times. Logically, this makes sense, given that even the best stallions are operating around 10% black-type winners, and even the best nicks are looking at slightly higher success rates. So if a mating makes sense to try, it might take a few attempts before it ‘clicks’ (or it might click more than once, if a breeder gets really lucky!). As such, we’ve not hesitated to recommend the same mating multiple times, and that’s the case with Mischievous Mind in 2026 when she’ll head back to Claiborne Farm to visit Prince of Monaco after delivering a foal from his first crop in the spring.
The major reasons for sending Mischievous Mind to Prince of Monaco haven’t changed since last year (see below for our prior write-up), and are based around the success that her female family has had with his sire Speightstown, namely in the shape of G3 winner and G1-placed Performer and the still-active Pentathlon (who contested the recent G2 Cigar Mile), and the fact that both Mischievous Mind’s sire-line and broodmare sire-line have done well with Speightstown.
We also continue to like this match-up physically, where Prince of Monaco has let down into an even more striking, powerful specimen than he was when we saw him right off the track last year — and as befits a $950,000 yearling purchase by the likes of “the Avengers” group.
