Why We Bought This Horse

  • Prosperity was covered on April 5, 2023, by Olympiad and WVS purchased her at the Keeneland November 2023 sale.   Our anticipation is that this foal will be Maryland-bred.
  • This is a 2023 Individual Foal Offering and is subject to the WVS Individual Foal Program Addendum to the Wasabi Ventures Stables Thoroughbred Management Agreement.
  •   Highlights of the program:
    • Fixed Price on the Offering - No Ongoing Bills
    • Limited Exposure - Like WVS Racing Programs, there is no chance for Future Expenses. If the Foal offering loses money, WVS absorbs those costs
    • Finite Time - The Foal Offering will be liquidated sometime in its weanling or yearling year, so you know when an offering ends.  Because you are not buying the mare, you have a finite time period of commitment (e.g. 6 to 18 months)
    • Reduced Risk - WVS will only open a Foal Offering once a mare has checked in foal to the chosen stallion
    • Perpetual Breeders Bonuses - Even after the foal is sold, a Club member can continue to earn breeding bonuses for the racing life of the horse.
    • You can watch a video about this program by visiting here.

In addition to her typically deep and high-class Juddmonte Farms female family, Prosperity's appeal when she was acquired was enhanced by the fact that she is carrying a foal from the first crop of the exciting G1W and $3 million earner Olympiad.

A $700,000 yearling purchase bred by Emory Hamilton from her outstanding Too Chic family that is also responsible for top runners and stallions like Queena, Brahms, Keen Ice, Verrazano, Harmonize, Somali Lemonade, Preservationist, El Padrino, etc, Olympiad is a son of leading sire and now sire-of-sires Speightstown. He capped a successful racing career (which included a win at Saratoga as a 2YO over Caddo River and Greatest Honour) with a 6-for-8 season at 4YO in which he won the historic Jockey Club Gold Cup-G1, a trio of G2 races, and a G3. He was also 2nd to HOTY Flightline in that season's Breeders' Cup Classic-G1. Retired to stud at Gainesway for 2023, he covered 228 mares in his first season at a fee of $35,000. His first in-foal mares are so far averaging $140k this fall.

In addition to his profile generally, we believe Olympiad is very well-suited to Prosperity specifically for a couple of reasons, namely that Speightstown and his sons have had repeated success with Tapit mares like Prosperity, this cross having accounted for the likes of G1W Lexitonian, G2Ws Bonny South and Finite, a pair of additional SWs and three more black-type horses from just 31 runners bred this way.

Additionally, the aforementioned G2W Bonny South (and her G3-placed full-sister Sun Path) are both from Prosperity's female family, and the foal from this mating will have a pedigree that looks quite similar to that of those two successful racing fillies.

We also like this mating a lot on physical: Olympiad is a beautifully balanced, medium-sized stallion with loads of substance and class, while Prosperity is a big, rangy, leggy mare -- hopefully they blend together nicely and produce an attractive and athletic foal next March!
