Why We Bought This Horse

  • This is a 2020 Broodmare Program offering and is subject to the WVS Broodmare Program Addendum to the Wasabi Ventures Stables Thoroughbred Management Agreement.
  • She will be a Maryland-based broodmare located at St. Omer's Farm and will be looking to be covered by Force the Pass in 2020.

Tidbits from the Pedigree

This Pedigree Report is written by George Adams, Director of Stallions and Breeding, Wasabi Ventures Stables:

Seville's Princess was recently acquired privately off the racetrack because we think she will be a perfect match for the new Wasabi Ventures Stallion Force the Pass.

Although she never lived up to her potential as a racehorse, Seville's Princess comes from a fabulous female family that includes no fewer than 17 stakes winners under her second dam, Dance Review!

Seville's Princess is a half to the stakes winner Rap Tale (in turn the dam of stakes winner Transact[AUS]) and to stakes-placed winner Cherokee Rap, out of the stakes-placed winner of $200k Rap and Dance.  Rap and Dance was a 3/4-sister to Grade 2 winner/Grade 1-placed Dance Colony (the dam of a pair of Graded-placed winners, and granddam of Grade 2 winner Blueskiesnrainbows, plus stakes winners Choo Choo and Cho Cho Cat), and a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Another Review and No Review (the latter the dam of stakes winner Smashing Review, who shares Rap and Dance's sire, Pleasant Tap -- Smashing Review is the granddam of stakes winner/G2-placed Zebulon[NZ]).  Rap and Dance is also a full-sister to stakes-placed winner Pleasant Review (dam of Grade 2 winner Sparkling Review), and a 3/4-sister to stakes-placed winner Colonial Review and to Promenade Colony, the dam of Grade 2 winner Promenade Girl (herself the dam of Grade 1 winner Cavorting and Grade 2 winner Moon Colony) and stakes winner Dattts Awesome.

Seville's Princess is sired by the Group 1 winner Seville[GER], a son of the world's leading stallion, Galileo.  The cross of Force the Pass's sire Speightstown with mares tracing to Galileo's sire Sadler's Wells rates an "A" on TrueNicks, and accounts for a trio of G1 winners among the 12 stakes winners bred that way.  In addition, Seville is out of a daughter of Silver Hawk, who is by Roberto, and Force the Pass is also out of a mare by a son of Roberto, meaning this foal will be inbred 4x5 to Roberto -- a pattern that has worked very well for Kitten's Joy, among others.

Seville's Princess's dam, Rap and Dance, is a daughter of Pleasant Tap, who has also had success as a broodmare sire when his fillies have been matched with sons and grandsons of Gone West (like Force the Pass).  And while this female family hasn't been tried often with horse's from Force the Pass's sire-line, there are a pair of stakes-placed winners by a son and a grandson of Gone West out of Seville's Princess's female relatives to back up the strong nick ratings.
